Some thoughts from Adam

Nan loved writing letters and cards to her friends and family. Half of the joy of receiving something from Nan was trying to decipher her handwriting, which for a code breaker was ironic.

Nan also enjoyed correcting grammar for fun. We recently found some writing I had done at school and sent to her. She had red-penned all the mistakes. Of course, she had not sent this to me with corrections.

Nan was very quick witted, and would tell us honest things with humour. I enjoyed that when I was sofa shopping in East Grinstead, and liked a lime green sofa, Nan was having none of it. She said if I chose the sofa and if I had a party my friends would look at it and be sick. I did not buy the sofa.

Nan was very supportive of what we were doing, and loved to hear about our lives. We had lovely telephone calls about our weeks and what we had been up to. I was always jealous of how much Nan had slept in that day, she was not an early riser...she was too busy staying up watching murder mysteries.

Nan’s love for Lou was amazing, and they were an amazing duo. Their support for each other was beautiful. When Lou was unwell it was so lovely to see Nan visiting her and making friends at Truscott and getting involved in a lovely community. Nan made many friends in our lives and many enjoyed her amazing stories.

Thanks for the wonderful memories, until we meet again, Adam.
